Our Size Guide

Get the perfect fit

At Uwe Koetter, we consider ourselves to be the experts when it comes to jewellery and especially rings, so we know that obtaining the perfect fit is extremely important. With that in mind, we will work with you to ensure you find the perfect ring with the perfect fit.

To help you find the right ring size this table shows the inside circumference of each UK ring size. Please note that this is a guide only and that having your finger measured in any one of our showrooms is the most accurate way to find out your ring size.

The thicker the ring, the tighter the fit, so if you choose a ring with a deep bandwidth, you will likely need to go one size up.

The best time of day to measure is in the evening when your fingers are largest. Avoid measuring when you’re cold, as fingers are at least half a size smaller.

Our showrooms and website stock ladies’ rings in sizes J-P, and men’s rings in sizes P-V, but we can also order any UK ring size for you: from the smallest, A, to the largest, Z. We also offer half sizes, so you really can find the perfect fit with us.

As a trusted jeweller since 1968, Uwe Koetter offers professional ring finger measurements: we always recommend these before you purchase your rings, but we also recognise that this isn’t always possible, particularly if you are planning a surprise proposal.

What if you are planning a surprise proposal?

Aside from the where, what, why and how of your surprise proposal, getting a ring to fit your intended’s finger ahead of time can be a tricky prospect.

The following are a few tips for secretly obtaining your partner’s ring size, gleaned from the collective knowledge of our experienced team here at Uwe Koetter. Once you have discovered your partner’s size, you will be better able to peruse our extensive collection of engagement rings in a full choice of precious metals.

The simplest way to find your partner’s ring size is to ‘borrow’ a ring they already wear. As engagement and wedding rings are typically worn on the third finger of the left hand, it’s perhaps unlikely that that finger is already adorned. Simply choose a ring usually worn on the middle finger instead, and be prepared to go down a size or two for the right fit.

Once you have managed to source an appropriate ring, come visit us at our Cape Town showroom where our experts will be on hand to size match it for you.

The Next Step

Once you have the ring size, our team of designers can provide you with everything you need to know about which ring style will work well for your partner: from shape, to diamond cut, and metal type.

We’ll talk you through different stones, colours of metals, engravings and shape to ensure you find exactly the ring you’re looking for.

If you prefer to go ring shopping together, then bring your partner into our showroom to choose the one that best reflects your lifestyle, relationship, and aesthetic preferences.
