Looking Back at the Jewellery of 2025

2025 gave us a clear reminder of something we see time and again at the bench: trends come and go, but great design has a way of leaving a fingerprint.

To mark the year gone by, we want to highlight our most popular commissions – the pieces our clients came back to again, and again, alongside designs that made us pause, smile, and think: “This is a story set in metal and stone”.

Part One: The Commissions You Loved Most

1) Scattered Colour-stone Rings: Bold, bright, unapologetically personal

If 2025 had a signature in colour, it would be scattered gemstones set with confidence. Bold colour-stone rings were especially popular, often flush set into thick bands, with a mix of gemstone types chosen for contrast, harmony, or pure delight. These pieces were visually striking and commissioned for various reasons: as eye-catching dress rings, personal self-gifts, a redesign of a client’s old stones and, even, as a wedding band.

A design choice we loved adding was the subtle satin finish on a band. The subtle matte effect changes how light moves across the ring, letting the stones do what they do best – glitter and shine with every turn of the hand.

And then there are the moments that remind you jewellery is never “just” jewellery. One standout example was a platinum ring with multi-colour gems that became a woman’s wedding band, proof that tradition is most meaningful when it’s made to fit the person wearing it.

2) Bezel-set Designs: The clean line that stole the spotlight

Bezel settings have been building momentum in our workshop since mid-2024, but 2025 brought a definite spike in interest, particularly for engagement rings. The appeal is easy to understand: a bezel-set can feel sleek and modern, with a refined edge that frames the stone like punctuation in a sentence.

What made this trend especially interesting was its range. Some clients wanted the simplicity of a plain metal band with a single show-stopper stone., while others played with tiny diamonds and different shapes to add nuance without losing the clean silhouette that makes a bezel so distinctive.

And it wasn’t only rings. Bezels showed up strongly in earrings (especially studs) and necklaces, too, becoming a recurring design language across different pieces.

At Uwe Koetter, we always keep a keen eye on what our clients want and enjoy in jewellery. As a result, the popularity of a simple bezel-set pendant helped inspire Uwe Koetter’s own Ready-To-Wear birthstone and colour-stone bezel-set pendants.

3) Trilogy Engagement Rings with Pear-Shaped Side stones: sharp, elegant, unmistakable

Trilogy rings have always carried a certain gravitas, but in 2025, one style rose to the top: a centre stone flanked by two pear-shaped diamonds. The result is an elegant, sharp silhouette, simultaneously soft and architectural, with the pear shapes adding length, light, and an assured sense of intention.

While the classic solitaire remains firmly in style, many clients leaned into subtle customisation, adding thoughtful details that made their ring unmistakably theirs.

4) Crest Designs: Classic, constant, and always in demand

Some designs don’t chase the moment because they are the moment. Crest rings continued to be an extremely popular order regardless of what was trending. This year brought a wide variety of variations. Our crest ring orders ranged from plain gold and silver designs to rings with black ceramic finishes – all striking in their own right.

We also welcomed more distinctive crest commissions that included a gorgeous pendant with a family crest design, surrounded by tiny diamonds and wedding cufflinks, each holding the family signet firmly on your sleeve.

Crest pieces have a particular kind of permanence. They are symbols you can wear, heritage rendered in gold, identity turned tangible. Every time one leaves the workshop, it feels less like a sale and more like the beginning of a new chapter.

Part Two: Commissions that made us go “WOW”

If some commissions showed us what defined the year, others showed us what pioneered it. These unique pieces proved, once again, how far design can travel when a client arrives with a clear vision and trusts us to carry it into form.

Padparadscha Sapphire Ring: A deep, vibrant orange statement

This padparadscha sapphire ring made the list for good reason: a deep, vibrant orange gemstone that refuses to become part of the background. It’s one of the rarest sapphires in the world, with its origin in Sri Lanka. This commission was a deeply personal one, as our client had this ring made especially for herself.

Paraiba Tourmaline Ring: Sea-blue set in white gold

The gorgeous deep sea-blue colour of this paraiba tourmaline definitely makes it a standout in any piece of jewellery. Its colour is formed due to the high concentration of copper in the stone, which results in this beautiful, electric blue-green colour. We very rarely work with such a unique stone so when we do, it is definitely a moment to remember!

Kunzite Pendant: The “evening stone” with a secret

Kunzite is a rare stone found in Afghanistan, with a light purple colour that can eventually turn completely white with exposure to the sun’s UV rays, earning it the nickname “the evening stone.” It was a joy to work with this gemstone and set it in a contemporary and modern pendant. This piece has a gentle message that beauty is ever-changing and fleeting, reminding us to enjoy our treasured pieces in the present moment.

Show-Stopper Pink Diamond Ring: Unapologetically vibrant

Lastly, we conclude this list with a true show-stopper. This floral-inspired pink diamond ring demands attention with its bold yet elegant design. It is the perfect statement piece for unforgettable occasions. The moment this ring left our workshop, we knew it was a design we would always remember!

A Closing Note from the Workshop

Looking back, 2025 wasn’t defined by a single look; it was defined by intention. Colour stones for those who wanted joy made visible. Bezel settings for those who value clean lines and enduring practicality. Trilogy rings for those drawn to elegance with edge. Crest pieces for those who carry a part of their heritage with them every day.If this year’s commissions taught us anything, it’s that the best jewellery isn’t only worn, it’s lived with. And if you’re already dreaming about what 2026 could hold, we’d love to help you shape it, from first idea to final polish
