A Mingling of Love and Craftsmanship

The Uwe Koetter Story Behind Two Stunning Engagement Rings

Two love stories, two exquisite engagement rings, and two very special celebrations for the Uwe Koetter team! As you may have seen in our social media posts, the Uwe Koetter team recently celebrated not one, but two very special engagements! Our talented colleagues, Simonette and Liana, are overjoyed to see their daughters embark on this new journey.

What makes these unions even more special is the love and technique that went into creating their stunning engagement rings. As proud family members, Simonette and Liana played devoted roles, along with our skilled artisans  to bring their daughters’ rings to fulfilment. We’d love to share the details of these betrothals, along with what makes these rings so special.

Kristen and Franco

After three years of navigating the ups and downs of a long-distance relationship, Kirsten and Franco’s relationship proved unbreakable. For love so pure, it was only fitting that their engagement took place amidst the breathtaking vistas of the Stellenbosch Wine Valley.

A serene eco pod at Camissa Farms on a relaxed weekend provided the perfect setting for such a joyous occasion. A celebratory gathering at Rainbow’s End Winery, surrounded by rolling hills and warm laughter definitely ensured that the moment was sealed in their memories forever.

Being able to celebrate their engagement with those closest to them truly makes such an occasion feel genuinely cherished and special.  Together, their love and dedication to each other is proof that with the right person by your side, even the toughest challenges and the greatest distances can be overcome.

Gina-May and Marnus

When Marnus approached our team member and Gina-May’s mother, Liana, with a secret mission to design her daughter’s dream ring, we knew we were in for a treat. As girls are, Gina-May knew exactly what she wanted – and Marnus made sure to listen and convey her wishes accurately.

On a crisp, golden Friday evening, Marnus surprised Gina-May on a picturesque hill, close to Morreesburg where they both live. The secret was well kept, and as he revealed the handmade ring, she saw not only the symbol of everlasting and unconditional love between soulmates but also a symbol of the time and care they both put into nurturing a lasting future together.

How These Rings Came to Be

Kirsten’s solitaire diamond ring typifies the idea of understated elegance. Her mother – our Expert Jewellery Advisor – Simonette, ensured that Franco was in good hands, personally selecting a stunning and high-quality diamond for her daughter’s ring.

Our CAD designer, Margo, precision-crafted the band and four-claw setting, refining every detail before printing a 3D model for casting. Our skilled goldsmiths meticulously refined the yellow gold band and setting. This method of casting the ring helps achieve greater accuracy with the size and final product.

On the other hand, Gina-May’s oval diamond ring, set in a sleek bezel setting, is a refreshing take on modern sophistication. Together, our owner and designer Johan, and skilled goldsmith, Ganief, designed and handcrafted this exquisite piece. Liana, Gina-May’s mother, worked closely with Ganief to bring her vision to life.

The handcrafted details imbue the ring with personality, making it truly one-of-a-kind, while Ganief’s exceptional skill ensures that the imperfections are subtle and characterful, yet distinctive – a mark of genuine craftsmanship.

Two rings, two distinct approaches, yet both share a common thread – the love and dedication that went into creating them. As we celebrate the unions of Kristen and Franco, and Gina-May and Marnus, we’re reminded that every love story is unique and deserving of a bespoke treasure.
