Estate Valuations, Jewellery Assessments and Antique Jewellery.

Preserve the Value. Honour the Legacy.

As the cooler months settle in and life moves at a gentler pace, we turn our attention inward. We stay in the warmth of our homes as we welcome treasured stories shared over meals. Nostalgia is in the air, and instead of looking at something fresh and new, it is the ideal time to turn your attention to the jewellery you already own.

Whether it is a piece passed down through generations or a gift received not too long ago, each item in your collection holds both sentimental and financial value. At Uwe Koetter, we specialise in helping you protect and understand the fluctuating value your jewellery holds through expert jewellery assessments, insurance valuations and, occasionally, estate valuations.

Why Jewellery Valuations Matter

Over time, the value of diamonds, gold, and other precious metals and gemstones can shift significantly. A valuation that was accurate five years ago may no longer reflect the current market. We recommend updating your valuations every two to three years to ensure your jewellery pieces are properly insured to ensure that it correlates with your insurance company’s values. However, an accurate valuation is not just for insurance purposes – it also offers peace of mind, helps you plan your estate, and ensures your jewellery is cared for in a way that honours its worth.

A Glimpse Into the Past

This season, we were entrusted with a remarkable collection of antique jewellery from the estate of Rita Fleigelman (1923–2008). Her family originally emigrated to the United States in the early 1900s, and many of the pieces in her collection were purchased in the New York Diamond District during the 1940s. Most of these jewellery pieces were acquired for her wedding in 1946 and include:

Rita’s granddaughter is now the grateful benefactor of these exquisite pieces.

It was a privilege to assess these rare and beautiful designs. Their craftsmanship and elegance serve as a reminder that jewellery is more than decoration – it is memory, artistry, and legacy all at once.

Our Valuation Services

At Uwe Koetter, our jewellery valuation process is meticulous and respectful of each item’s unique story. We examine the quality and integrity of gemstones, ensure settings remain secure, and thoroughly clean and polish your pieces before returning them to you. We advise clients to bring in no more than six items at a time for security and focus.
