30 Years of Fairways
During the first weekend of May, the fairways of Robertson were alive with celebration as the prestigious Ladies Interclub Golf Tournament marked its 30th anniversary. The annual tournament was a time to celebrate women in sports and witness their incredible sportsmanship and camaraderie on the course. Uwe Koetter was honored to sponsor this year’s golf tournament and committed to a four-year long sponsorship, leading to the renaming of the tournament to ‘The Uwe Koetter Interclub Golf Tournament. As proud partners in this legacy, we embraced the opportunity to honour not only the game but the remarkable women who play it.
Hosted this year by Western Province Golf as part of a rotational arrangement, and joined by players from both WP Golf and Boland Golf, the weekend unfolded from 2–4 May in true sporting spirit. The format followed a foursomes style, where players form a team of two that take alternate shots—making teamwork, communication, and precision the true keys to victory.
The tournament consisted of four divisions, based on players’ skills and handicaps. Each division would produce a winning team, giving us eight overall champions whose talent and dedication shone brightly throughout the weekend.
We sent out a five man team to support the ladies during the tournament and personally congratulate the champions. Each day we were camped out at our on-course gazebo with refreshments ready for each lady that passed by. We aimed to make every swing feel celebrated and had the privilege of engaging with players on and off the course, capturing candid moments, laughter, and some incredible golf action through the lens.
A Touch of Sparkle from Uwe Koetter
Our involvement began as a mere trophy sponsorship, which quickly evolved as we saw the value of playing a bigger part in such a wonderful event. Uwe Koetter sponsored all the trophies for the four divisions, including a show-stopping Division A trophy designed by Johan Louw and masterfully crafted by our team.
It wouldn’t be a true Uwe Koetter sponsorship without a little bit of glitz and glamour. We wanted to give our champions something truly special that would last a lifestyle and be a glistering reminder of the success they’ve achieved. Therefore, we gifted the overall winners of each division a lab-grown diamond pendant set in a white gold collet – elegant in its simplicity and a true shimmering reminder of their victory.
Lab-grown diamonds have become more and more popular over the years and the use of them in these prizes reflects our commitment to beauty, innovation, and responsibility. These diamonds match the brilliance and durability of natural stones, while aligning with ethical and environmentally conscious values.
Throughout the event, we added a few surprise delights for the ladies who won mini games on the course like Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. For the ladies lucky enough to hit on the green whenever they passed our gazebo at the 3rd hole, we also handed out a personalized Uwe Koetter cap – at the rate these caps were being handed out, we might need to bring a bigger batch next year!
